Why some people don’t look as good in photos?

Posted on 15th December 201821st May 2019

Sometimes you may wonder why some people are photogenic. Here”s why.

Camera operate differently compared to our eyes

Camera lenses will make a face distorted. For instance in photo selfies, your noise may seem bigger than they actually look in reality. Whenever your face isn”t in the center of the photo, it will appear distorted. This explains why people may not look good in photos.

Motion pictures look more flattering than stand still photos

When people are in motion, there are things that may draw our attention to them. Like their sparkling eyes, facial expressions, and smiles. It is something we may miss when looking at them in reality but these little expressions are obvious on photos. A still photo can give a sad appearance which will make it difficult for a photographer to capture a beautiful expression.

Lights can either ruin or save a photo

We usually see things with our eyes in 3D while photographs are displayed in 2D. When we view things with our eyes there are many things the head ignores but the 2D image will bring the not attractive features out. Good lighting shifts focus on the flattering features while bad lighting will cause bad facial features to stand out.
